We’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with Danish material manufacturer Søuld. As their second UK Dealer, we will very soon offer Søuld’s curated range of beautifully crafted acoustic products through our Collection to private and trade customers including architects, developers, interior designers and end-users around the world.
Made from eelgrass - a natural, CO₂-binding material sustainably harvested in Denmark - Søuld’s products are designed to create healthier, more comfortable indoor environments. Their organic composition adds warmth, texture, and a unique sensory quality to interior spaces.
Driven by a mission to reduce the environmental impact of the building industry, Søuld transforms an abundant local sea plant into recyclable, carbon-storing materials. About Søuld
Founded in 2010, Søuld’s mission is to produce functional, sustainable and beautiful alternatives to traditional building materials that can improve sustainable development in the construction industry, whilst also improving human health and wellbeing.
For over a decade Søuld has collaborated with ecologists, manufacturers and designers to develop acoustics from eelgrass - an abundant, renewable local sea plant with deep roots in Danish culture - to offer the industry a high performing alternative to synthetic options. Søuld’s work has led to the revitalisation of the 400-year-old eelgrass tradition, to the protection of the eelgrass ecosystem and to the material’s optimisation for sustainable 21st Century building.

Material
Søuld’s eelgrass products originate from the sea - a place you are never far from in Søuld’s native Denmark. The organic material embodies the same sense of calm provided by the sea, and when taken indoors it imbues living spaces with a restorative connection to nature.
An overlooked resource, eelgrass’s first use as a building material in construction dates back to the 1600’s, when settlers on the Danish island of Læsø would forge thick roof-thatching for their ‘seaweed houses - a technique unseen anywhere else in the world. Enhanced through state-of-the-art technology, Søuld’s work represents a passionate reinvention of Denmark’s forgotten seaweed house heritage, see below.
After a decade of research and development into the material, Søuld has emerged as an expert in eelgrass and is the first company to convert the material into carbon-storing building materials that combine high acoustic performance, safety and health modern aesthetics. Working together with local farmers, municipalities and ecologists, Søuld has optimised eelgrass collection based on environmental protection and the preservation of natural eelgrass meadows.
The carbon-binding sea plant is found washed ashore along Denmark’s coastline as an abundant, renewable and overlooked local resource. The plant absorbs significant amounts of carbon while growing in the sea and therefore serves as a carbon sink when used in construction.
Søuld has demonstrated that this natural and carbon-binding material has numerous inherent qualities as a modern building material: it provides excellent acoustic and thermal comfort, effective humidity regulation, longterm durability, high fire-resistance and low susceptibility to mould and bacteria due to its naturally high content of mineral salts.

Building Materials
Different projects require different solutions. Søuld offers different ways to integrate the Acoustic Panels as a building material. The Acoustic Ceilings, Wooden Lamellas and Wall Absorbents enhance indoor acoustics while maintaining aesthetics and contributing to a healthy indoor environment.
Design Solutions
Søuld provides finished design solutions that are both aesthetic and offer a high acoustic performance. Various design solutions are available that are ready and easy to install - for small private projects or large scale B2B projects - and can be integrated as part of the interior as well as acoustic wall absorbents.
