2023 Project: Our petite role in Mengi Yay’s milestone project

In March 2023 we were approached by Mengi Yay Yachts in Turkey to supply a small quantity of the ever-popular Decorative 3D Wall Panels (made by FORM AT WOOD in Poland) for a prestigious project they recently completed.

Turkey is one of the worlds leading yacht building countries with decades of experience in motor, sailing and gulet yacht construction. A centralised location in the heart of the Mediterranean provides Mengi Yay the opportunity to deliver their products to worldwide customers.

Mengi Yay owns one of the largest (19,365m2) and most sophisticated shipyards that were specifically designed for the refit and refurbishment of existing craft as well as the manufacturing of brand new state of the art luxury motor and sailing yachts.

Coinciding with Turkey quietly celebrating on 29 October 2023 its 100-year anniversary as a republic against the backdrop of Israel’s escalating attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, Mengi Yay is proud to have delivered the 100th project in its history since 1964 (shown above and below).

The 47.3m long and 8.8m wide ANCORA is the third hull of Mengi Yay’s Virtus 47 series. With the unrestricted charter class of RINA, the ANCORA is a masterpiece of innovation, combining Dutch naval architecture by Ginton Naval Architecture, sophisticated Italian exterior design by VYD Studio and modern Turkish interior design by Robert Trown and Associates.

ANCORA offers spacious areas to the owner master cabin with balcony and main saloon with two terraces. For this 100th project, Mengi Yay expressed interest in using the popular Pillow 3D Wall Panels (EDGE Series) in Natural Oak (shown below) to create a headboard installation in the owner master cabin.

From drawings supplied, we carefully detailed the order requirements and veneering to just the visible outer edges of panels used to create the headboard, and shipped the order from Poland to Turkey for installation by Mengi Yay.

During the making of this order we provided detailed guidance on how Mengi Yay were to prepare the wall for creating the headboard to ensure the best possible adhesion and installation of the panels.

We are proud to have played a very small supporting role in what is a significant milestone project. Our thanks and congratulations go out to our client Mengi Yay on this impressive achievement.
