Welcoming Jonathan Field, Furniture Designer-Maker

Thrilled to kick off the new year by introducing and welcoming Jonathan Field into the Teer & Co fold of Designer Makers.

Initially, Jonathan joins us to support our management of bespoke commission work for interior designers, architects and private clients by showcasing and offering his unique style of furniture. This means that on occasions when our customers wish to discuss their own ideas and specific requirements with us for a bespoke piece of furniture or object, we can propose working with Jonathan if we feel his style of making, experience and of course his availability lend themselves to help realise the customer’s project.

Jonathan is an award-winning and respected designer-maker creating unique and limited edition pieces from his studio in East London. His focus is creating a balance between elegance and functionality, with a simplicity of line, form and materials, making pieces that are easy to live with and give both visual and tactile pleasure.

Following are just a few examples of Jonathan’s private commission work.

While focusing primarily on the design’s functionality, Jonathan incorporates through his choice of natural materials a timeless feel that will, through use, be complemented with a patina of age. In his practice, Jonathan interprets the human longing for a deeper connection to traditional crafts, contemporary aesthetics and an engagement with natural materials, allied to a story made visceral through the maker’s time and hand.

Jonathan works closely with Andy Gravelius, who brings to his work precise care and attention to detail, coupled with a consistent quality of overview and craftsmanship. Together, they have in-depth knowledge of using traditional and new materials, and a clear understanding of technologies and processes. And they work closely with other disciplines such as metal fabricators or upholsterers whenever a project requires such collaboration.

We really admire Jonathan’s approach, creativity and the quality of craftsmanship evident in his work which further broadens the styles of making we can offer in response to bespoke commission enquiries.

If you have any questions about Jonathan’s work, or would like to discuss a bespoke project of your own, then please call us on 07957 627052 or send us an email to simon@simonteer.com.
